How to sort your metals before selling: our tips

Careful sorting of your metals can significantly increase your purchase price.

Separate ferrous and non-ferrous

Use a magnet: ferrous metals (iron, steel) are magnetic, non-ferrous (copper, aluminum, brass) are not.

Sort by family

Separate copper from brass (yellow vs red), aluminum from stainless steel (weight), and remove non-metallic elements (plastic, wood).

Strip cables

Stripped copper is worth €10.30/kg versus €2.50-6.50/kg for sheathed cables. The effort pays off for large cables.
